Father Daughter Dance & Gianna's 9th birthday!!!

Tonight was the Father Daughter Dance...the girls looked so beautiful...

This was Julia's last Father Daughter Dance. Where did all those years go?

I remember taking this picture like it was yesterday...

It's just crazy how fast the years go by...

After they got home, Julia burst into tears.  She is very sad that this was her last Daughter Dance.  I was very surprised because she's not usually sentimental.  In fact, she was just telling me today that she thinks elementary school has too many grades.  She feels like she's been there forever.  So cute.  She says she is ready to move on to middle school.  But I think it's going to be a little harder than she thinks.  She has lots of very good friends though that will be moving on to middle school with her.  And she'll make lots of new friends from other elementary schools that she doesn't even know yet.

And on another note...today is Gianna's 9th birthday!!!  We celebrated when they got home with some presents and yummy brownies.  (It's what Gianna wanted!)

My girls love the movie Frozen.  It just came out on DVD.  We saw it twice in the movies...and Julia saw it three times in the movies...it's super cute...

And Gianna got a few games for the Xbox...

My silly girl...

And of course she got some stuffed animals...

My baby is 9.  She's the cutest, funniest and sweetest 9 year old I know.  I just love her.

Gianna's story

Gianna wrote the best story for school.  She is so smart and such a great writer. Pretty awesome for just 8 years old...

I looked out my window at the beautiful winter landscape. The moonlight danced on the magical, glistening snow like a jewel.  My hands pressed against the foggy cold windows and left finger prints all over the see-through glass.  I opened the window to let the cold crisp air seep into the room.  As I was about to close the window, the faint smell of sappy pine trees came to my nose.  I heard the hooting of a Snowy Owl off in the distance.  I reached my hand out and caught some glittering snow in the palm of my hand. I licked the snowflakes in my mouth and they dissolved rapidly.  I couldn't wait for the morning to come.  Soon, I went to bed and closed my eyes and fell fast asleep.

Starquest

Both of my girls did a wonderful job this weekend at Starquest.  I was so proud! All of their dances won either platinum or platinum plus. They have worked very hard and it showed. I was so busy with costumes, hair and make up changes that I hardly took any pictures. I'll try to do better at the next competition. I did buy some nice professional stage pictures though and should have those in a few weeks.

Julia's jazz costume is super cute. I don't know how they dance with those crazy hats on their heads...

Julia's solo was gorgeous as ever.  She won platinum and received a special judges award for "Beauty & Grace" which described her so perfectly...

Julia's trio won Platinum Plus and 1st place...

Both Gianna's dances won Platinum and 1st place...

Friends help friends stretch...

They took about a hundred pictures like this one...

Gianna made me cry.  She was so cute.  They won 1st place and a platinum. She starts second in from the right.

What a weekend!!

This past weekend was one of the busiest weekends I can remember...

Julia and I went to see Boston Ballet's Cinderella at the Oprah House.  It was fantastic.  Doesn't Julia look so beautiful?

I got the tickets just when they went on sale and we scored second row seats! Look at our view...

And I saw another performance of Cinderella too...

Gianna's Triboro Youth Theater's production....

It was absolutely adorable and Gianna did a wonderful job as one of the mice. Thanks to my Mom, Kimmy and CeCe for coming to see her!!

We celebrated after with Bliss ice cream of course...

Meanwhile, Danny and Nicholas were in Fitchburg all weekend for the Pee Wee Massachusetts State Tournament...and they WON!!!  That team was crazy good this year.  That's two big championship wins for the team this year.  They won it all!!  So much talent and hard work went into that.  And I was so sad that I had to miss the whole thing!  Like I said...way too much going on over the weekend.  I simply cannot be in two places at the same time...but I wish I could...

And that's not it.  I also had a dance mom brunch...

There are so many nice Moms at the dance studio.  It was a nice way to spend a Sunday morning.

We also had 6 dance dress rehearsals this weekend too.  I'm going to try and recover today.  I'm exhausted just thinking about it.  And next weekend will be just as crazy when my girls have their first dance team competition of the season. Oh my.

Skip Day

Julia had been asking me to take her back to the American Girl doll store.  (We had a wonderful time there the first time we played hooky about two years ago.)  So how could I resist?  I know in my heart that it will probably be one of the last times, if not THE last time, she will want to go there.  She will be turning 12 at the end of the summer and then off to middle school in the fall.  She is still so much a little girl and I absolutely love that, but I know the inevitable is coming.  Oh my heart.

We started the day by pretending she was sick as to not upset her brother and sister.  It was our little secret that we were going to play hooky for the day!  (No worries...I'm not playing favorites.  I plan to do the same for the other two as well!)

We took our time walking around the huge store looking at all the dolls on display.  Then Julia had her doll's hair done at the salon.

Then it was time for lunch in the Bistro...

They have the cutest appetizers...

McKenna newly coiffed...

Julia's lunch...

and our dessert...

Poof...all gone!!  Well...almost...

This cracked me up!!  I turned around at a red light to see what she was doing and there she was...

Julia picked out some extensions for McKenna's hair and this pretty new outfit...

I will always treasure the day.  Life is too short not to play hooky once in a while. Spending an afternoon alone with my precious sweet daughter is what life is all about.
