Weekend summering

This is Julia with her friend Katie.  This picture cracks me up.  Julia is tiny for 11 and Katie is pretty tall for 11 so they make a really cute pair...

Gianna being silly...of course...

The weather has been so perfect the past three days.  It's been a great weekend with time spent with good friends, good food and long afternoons by our pool.

Backstreet Boys

Kimmy and I went to see the Boys again.  What a great way to start the summer!!

Their show is always so much fun!!  This picture just cracks me up...

See the guy on the right of that huge screen wearing the "BSB" hat?  He paid big bucks to sit on the stage as part of group of fans allowed on the stage during one segment of the concert.  But then as they zoomed in on him at one point, he was yawning! Yawning on stage with the Boys!!  Kimmy and I were dying laughing!!

Last day of school

Today was the last day of school.  Gianna had lots of tears today...Nicholas told me he wished he was still in school (I think because of friends and perhaps a girl)...and Julia was just happy to spend the afternoon and evening with her good friend.  I think that helped her not feel so sad today.  I really cannot believe that today was Julia's last day of elementary school...ever.  : (

Nicholas will be moving on to 7th grade in the fall.  Even though he's 12, he has turned into a full blown teenager this year right before my eyes...

I had to laugh when I looked at all his binders he brought home from the school year.  They were all ripped and broken...

But just look at his report card!  All A's and B's!!!

Gianna finished the 3rd grade with the absolute BEST report card ever!!  She got TEN 4's!!  That is almost unheard of!  Nicholas and Julia never come close to that.  She is a smarty pants for sure!!

And I love to hear what the teachers have to say about them...

This week Gianna had her wolf animal project. She wrote a fabulous report and made this wonderful diorama....

Her friend Katherine...

and Lily...

Megan and Katherine...

Eva and Katherine (again)...

I can't believe I forgot to get a picture of her with her teacher, Mrs. Stewart.  She had a rough start to the year adjusting to a new teacher, but quickly things turned around and Gianna just adored her.  As I was tucking her into bed tonight, she just cried and cried.  She has a tough time with change and transition.  She told me the year went by way too fast and it only felt like a few weeks to her.  It just breaks my heart to see her so upset.  I'm just so happy to have two more years with Gianna at the elementary school!!  Thank goodness!!

This morning Julia had on this pretty dress for the last day of school...

And then her Mama ironed it...and got water all over it...and then her Mama tried to dry it with the hair dryer...but it left water stains...oops...

So Julia ran back inside and put this pretty dress on instead...so I had to do another "last day" picture all over again of Julia...

Julia had four of her friends over yesterday to make cupcakes for their teacher, Mrs. Healey.  Here she is supervising Gianna to make sure she doesn't drop them...

Julia had a wonderful report card too with all 3's and 4's.  I love what her teacher had to say about her...

The school has a "clap out" for all the 5th graders.  All the kids and teachers in the school line the hallways and the parents line up outside the school.  Then the 5th graders walk (run) by and get high fives and cheers from everyone.  It's really cute.

So it was a very emotional day for me and my kiddies.  I'm hoping this summer will bring us lots and lots of fun and a much needed rest from all the school work, hockey and competitive dancing (which isn't quite over just yet).

Happy Summer!!!

Dance Recital

Yesterday was dance recital day.  I feel like a ran a marathon!  Six costume changes for the afternoon recital and eleven costume changes at the night show. And my flip flop broke in the middle of all that.  Nice.  But other that that, the shows were really good and of course our girls were fabulous!!!

Oh the drama...

This was Julia's 8th recital and Gianna received her 5th year trophy...
