Bre's Wedding

Our niece got married yesterday...

It was a beautiful wedding that was held right on their front lawn of their home. Alex is a chef and Bre is a pastry chef so between them and their chef friends they made all the food.  It was beyond delicious!

The beautiful bride...

Our three cherubs...

Me and The Boy (and Julia photobombing)...

Brothers...

Julia and her dad...

Danny's hilariously funny and sweet cousin Danny...

I didn't get the best picture of Geralyn...

Our niece Erika and her husband Derik...

Danny at his "table"...

The happy couple...

There were butterfly's around all day.  I'd like to think they were some special family members also in attendance...like cousin Diane and Danny's parents...as I believe in that sort of thing...

It was a beautiful wedding and the most perfect day!

Hall of Fame Nationals

We spent the last week going back and forth to the Foxwoods Casino for the Hall of Fame Nationals...and what a week it was!!

For starters this happened...

We both just couldn't believe it!!  It was such an amazing honor and so ridiculously exciting!!  Just to back up for a second...both of her solos earned Grand Slams which is the highest score you can receive...

So to continue...you don't need to go for "title" at Hall of Fame.  They just pick the highest scoring solo.  For their Nationals, they pick the top 5 highest scoring solos in each age division to re-compete in a separate solo showdown on a different day.  There were so many talented dancers!  Starting with 11th place, there was a three way tie...then they announced up to 6th place again with several ties.  Julia's name wasn't announced.  I was thinking that because there were quite a lot of Grand Slams that maybe she didn't even make the top 11?  Then they announced in competition entry number order (not winning order) the top 5 (there were actually 7 because of two ties) and they called her solo Find Me last!!!  Wow! So many gorgeous dancers and Julia was in the top!  Just so incredibly proud of her!

Then for the super fun part.  The top seven went out to the lobby to the solo showdown table and picked a number 1-7 to determine their order of performance at the showdown.  Kind of a bummer that Julia picked number one because no one wants to go first...but if you're good you're good so it really doesn't matter.  Here she is picking her number...

Solo Showdown Program Order:

Then she got to film a video introduction for her solo that played on the big screens right before she danced!  How awesome was that!!

After they all danced they had each age level showdown group come on stage for the announcement of top 3...

and...she didn't place...but still received a beautiful crown and a plaque!  I think she really already won just by qualifying to dance in the showdown. (Winner was Emmy Berg)

Julia's teammate, Savannah, won first place of course for her teen showdown. She's an incredible dancer...

Both of our girls...and the whole team...danced so beautifully during group day.  We tried to take as many pictures as possible during the quick costume changes...

My girls had a lot of fun during the week hanging with all their friends. The girls got to go to the Sugar Factory too...

Salem Witch Trials placed first during the regular competition and was 2nd in the Dance Off.  Underneath the London Sky won first place both days...

Then after the Dance Off it was time for the sad goodbyes to the graduating seniors.  Every year it's so difficult for these girls to say goodbye to those going off to college after literally growing up with each other at the studio...

and goodbye to her teachers too. Miss Stephanie...

Miss Jill who she's had since she was just five years old...

and her favorite Miss Hope...

Julia's very first solo competition was Hall of Fame...

and ironically it was her very last...

Now she has all of these trophies, plaques, medals, sashes (2!!) and crowns (3!!!) in her bedroom as special memories for all that hard work and talent...
