Hockey Showcase

We had a great weekend with Nicholas!  We went out to Louisville for his hockey showcase...

Just seeing him for the first time after two long months made my heart melt...

They lost the first game on Friday but won Saturday and Sunday's games...

The last game against Virginia Tech was a nail biter!! It's so stressful when your son is the goalie. Ugh!! They were losing until the last period when they tied it up 5-5. It went into a 5 minute 3 on 3 overtime but no one scored. So it had to go to a shoot out!  It went back and forth and Nicholas made some great saves. Finally Louisville scored for the win! The rink was packed and it was a wild finish!

One of his teammates from his junior hockey Springfield Pic days was playing in that final game too...

It's great to see these two moving on to college hockey...

He won the belt again for the last game. He felt like so many other kids deserved it more than him. I agree that there were many that also deserved it as they all worked together that last period for the win.

It was nice spending time with his sweet girlfriend too...

I'm bursting with pride over the wonderful young man he is becoming.

Homecoming

Yesterday we spent the day at Endicott for Homecoming. We started the day at the Championship Banner Ceremony. Just look at how gorgeous Julia is...

The dance team was recognized for their 12th regional title...

They've also won a few national titles in the past...fingers crossed that Julia will win a national title before she graduates too!

After that, Danny and I went to a brunch at the nursing budling. It was delicious! We sat out on the balcony and just look at this view! You can even see the ocean from up there. Endicott is just so beautiful...

Then it was on to the football game which they won. I love seeing Julia on the sidelines and performing the halftime routines...

After the game we had a tailgate with the dance team families. It was a lot of fun!

Here are the juniors...

It was great day!

Weekending

It was a really nice long weekend. I love starting my mornings like this...

Nicholas went to his first UofL football game. It was a big win over Notre Dame! He had a great time with his hockey buddies...

And they stormed the field at the end of the game with all the other fans. It makes me so incredibly happy to know he's living the full college experience...

On another note, he brought his girlfriend to the hospital yesterday with severe stomach pain. Turns out she needed her appendix out. They whisked her in for surgery yesterday and happy to report she's home resting now.

Julia had her jazz choreography over the weekend. I love it already! I can't wait to watch them perform it on the big national's stage! So exciting!!

We were so happy she came home on Sunday night and got to spend a few days with us. We went to Lynwood's yesterday for pizza...yum!

Me and Mikey relaxing on the couch. I love when he buries his head into the pillow like this...

I made yummy peanut butter cookies for me & Julia...

And our Gianna Mae was incredibly happy and relieved to be home for a nice extra long weekend...

Living away at college has been a huge adjustment for her. She's been very homesick. Praying it gets a little easier for her as the months go by.

Loved having both girls under one roof again for the weekend : )

Two

Today sister Kim and I went to the cemetery to put some mums and pumpkins on Nana & Grampy's and Mom & Glenn's plots.  I had asked Mom to give me a little sign before I left my house. I also asked her to show me a butterfly.

When we pulled up to Mom and Glenn's plot, we saw just two yellow flowers left from the spring flowers we had planted. And it turns out they were on two separate plants. This is them after we pulled them out...

My thought...one flower for Mom and one flower for Glenn. Kimmy took one home and I took the other one.

And then wouldn't you know it...two tiny yellow butterflies showed up!

And wouldn't you know it...yellow is my favorite color : )

Parent's Weekend

We went to SHU for parent's weekend. It poured buckets all day Friday into Saturday morning so we didn't do much on Friday except take Gianna out to lunch and dinner.

Saturday we ate lunch on campus and went to the football game.

I didn't watch much of the game because I'm not a big fan of football...but I really enjoyed watching the marching band, cheerleaders and dance team...

Gianna with her roommate, Alyssa (and her sister)...

We went over to see Ally at her off campus house. We ate lots of yummy food and then headed back to campus to watch the dance show. The Irish dancers were the best. Just so talented.

It was great hanging with Gianna for a few days. She's so excited to be coming home for an extra long weekend next week!

Big Game

There is a big rivalry between the hockey teams at U of Kentucky and U of Louisville. They play at midnight and it's always a packed house. Nicholas played an awesome game. Danny and I were at SHU for parents weekend so we watched from our hotel room. They won 2-1 which was a HUGE win! We are just so proud of our Boy!! He's getting lots of playing time this season and his confidence has come a long way. He won the belt (for the second time) and the game puck!!

I know he'll remember that night for the rest of his life...
