Happenings

Nicholas took a slapshot to the hand...and OUCH.  It's black and swollen. I lost sleep over it. It's tough when your kids are so far away and they get hurt.  Even when they're 21 : (

Julia had a dance photo shoot on the beach at sunset with the college's professional photographer. I love that she wants to share all the special moments with me : )  I can't wait to see the pictures!!

And Gianna went to her friend's cheerleading senior night. Such cute dance friends...

Happy 29th Anniversary

Twenty-nine years. Wow.  I remember the day like it was just last week or something...not 29 years ago. We've lost so many beloved family members and friends since that day, but we've also gained new family and friends too.  A lot has happened...the good...the bad...and the ugly...but we're still together.  Laugh a lot and just enjoy each other's company...that would be my advice for a long happy marriage.

Danny gave me this picture today to hang in our bedroom. It made me cry. I am so much like my Mama in that way now. Anything and everything triggers tears these days...but I just love this...

He always gives me a serious card and a funny card for my birthday and our anniversary. This funny card is just too perfect! This truly is us! It even has the plant next to the couch and Eli sitting with us which he does every single night...

We are a team and we do sit next to each other on the couch every night.  I guess we still do like each other after 29 years...actually it's 34 if you count how long we've been together. : )

Gameday

Another beautiful day for a football game!  Today was a fundraising event where young dancers got to spend the morning with the dance team and learn a routine for the halftime show.  I loved watching Julia with the young girls. She is such an awesome teacher and mentor! The little kids adore her! My eyes filled with tears as I watched her perform with her team and all the young girls today. I'm just so incredibly proud of her! We took her out to eat after the game. It was so nice to spend some quality time with my girl. I miss her so much : (

Here's a sideline from today. The pep band is God awful!!

The Sickies

Poor Julia. When she gets sick...she gets sick.  She developed a bacteria in her throat that causes meningitis. Poor girl had to get these awful shots that were quite painful. It's been scary not really knowing what all this means but I know she's in good hands with her own doctor now. She's heading back up to school today for a fun weekend.  Tomorrow is her very first home football game of the season and her dance team is learning their competition pom choreography!  I'm super excited to see her on the sidelines and watch their new halftime performance!

She wasn't smiling like this after those awful shots in her thighs : (   She's a trooper that's for sure!!

Ogunquit Girls Weekend

We started our long girls weekend at Perkin's Cove. We had lunch at Oarweed's and then did some shopping...

A trip to Ogunquit has to include Boston baked beans candy...

We went back to the house for an evening of snacks that we brought (a ton) and had a lot of laughs playing games.

Saturday started off with a huge fire in downtown Ogunquit.  Fire engines from all over were screaming by the house. Turns out an old building that housed an antique store caught fire. Firetrucks from Wells, York Beach, York Village, North Berwick, South Berwick, Kennebunk, Kittery, Sanford and Biddeford were there. Here's a picture I found on line...

We walked down the next day to see it. Honestly, I thought it would have been completely gone but they did a wonderful job saving a lot of the building and preventing it from spreading to the surrounding buildings. It could have been a lot worse...

The smoke damage looked bad inside but I think they were able to save a lot of the contents. The front of the store wasn't burned...

and the beautiful flower boxes on the building out front were untouched...

Since it was a beautiful day we headed to the beach.  The tide was super high when we got there and really rough. It was a full moon and there was a storm at sea. The waves were crazy huge!  Some guy went out too far and had to be rescued.  The lifeguards tried and tried but the waves were too big. Finally a jet ski came and got him.  It was so stressful watching the poor guy wave and then go under and then wave and go under. Just so thankful he was saved and no one got hurt.

That night we went to the Front Porch Piano Bar and had an absolute blast! We ate and drank and sang!

Sunday we spent the day in downtown Ogunquit shopping...

had ice cream for lunch...

and a delicious dinner at the BeachFire Bar & Grill. They have the best nachos and mac & cheese!

Monday we woke up early to do laundry and clean the house. Then we walked the Marginal Way, had lunch at Jackie's Too and walked the Marginal Way back to the center of town...

It was a fabulous weekend!!
