Yesterday Danny and I went to a memorial celebration for an old co-worker and dear friend of Danny's. They called him Killer. They worked together at the Post Office long ago. Killer always kept in touch with Danny over the years. Killer would organize lunches with Danny and a few other guys from the P.O. He was just the nicest guy and it showed yesterday. What a turn out. The hall was filled with so many of his family and friends.
And we couldn't believe it when we saw the Blue Jacket. Killer wore that jacket to everything...even our wedding! It was a joke with me and Danny because for every function he would be in his blue jacket. When we walked in, there it was on display...
And the best part of the day for me was seeing this guy...Artie!!
Unbelievable to think that he is 88 years young! And I truly mean that! He hasn't aged one day since the last time we saw him which was probably years ago. Just goes to show that when you are in a happy relationship, have all your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around...you live a long and very happy life! We had lots of laughs about all the fun times we had together. Artie used to come over to our house in Braintree (this was before the kids) for Danny's chicken wings. We'd sit on the back porch and feast on the chicken wings and then toss them in a trash bag as we ate them. We'd each have a wash cloth for all the barbeque sauce that would get all over us. Then the ice cream truck would drive by playing the song..."You're a....." hahaha great memories! Loved visiting him down his beach house in Falmouth too. Just the best guy. Truly made my day!!
