Skip Day

Julia had been asking me to take her back to the American Girl doll store.  (We had a wonderful time there the first time we played hooky about two years ago.)  So how could I resist?  I know in my heart that it will probably be one of the last times, if not THE last time, she will want to go there.  She will be turning 12 at the end of the summer and then off to middle school in the fall.  She is still so much a little girl and I absolutely love that, but I know the inevitable is coming.  Oh my heart.

We started the day by pretending she was sick as to not upset her brother and sister.  It was our little secret that we were going to play hooky for the day!  (No worries...I'm not playing favorites.  I plan to do the same for the other two as well!)

We took our time walking around the huge store looking at all the dolls on display.  Then Julia had her doll's hair done at the salon.

Then it was time for lunch in the Bistro...

They have the cutest appetizers...

McKenna newly coiffed...

Julia's lunch...

and our dessert...

Poof...all gone!!  Well...almost...

This cracked me up!!  I turned around at a red light to see what she was doing and there she was...

Julia picked out some extensions for McKenna's hair and this pretty new outfit...

I will always treasure the day.  Life is too short not to play hooky once in a while. Spending an afternoon alone with my precious sweet daughter is what life is all about.
