Going, going....Done!

It feels good to have some alone time. It's almost ten o'clock at night and the house is silent. I'm exhausted but loving the peace and quiet. The past two weeks have felt endless with running here and there with the kids. There have been many school parties and celebrations along with Nicholas' field day and Julia's graduation and dance recital. We're all exhausted.

Julia's last day of school was yesterday. When I went to pick her up I couldn't speak or even look at anyone because I was so emotional. A few other moms were too so I didn't feel so bad. We gave the teachers their gifts and they gave each mom a brown bag decorated by the children with all their classroom belongings. I remembered this from last year so at least I was prepared. I had to drive Nicholas to school that day because we missed the bus with all the gift giving and sad goodbyes. So as we sat in the car in the school parking lot waiting for the school doors to open, I did a bad thing. I opened the brown bag. In the bag were things like pictures the teachers had taken in the classroom throughout the year like Julia's first day of school where she looked so tiny...her "Julia helping hand" for class jobs...her name tag for classroom field trips...her crayon and pencil holder...a class picture with a tear jerker of a poem and so on.

I was really crying then and of course Nicholas came to my rescue. He just put his little arms around me and stroked my face and showered me with kisses. He is my sensitive one. But then Julia started to elbow him from the back seat of the car to try to make her way up to the front to "console me" (yeah right). She didn't like the attention Nicholas was getting and had to get her share too. So the fighting began and soon my tears were gone and replaced by plain old irritation. Then Julia asks why I'm crying. I try to explain why I'm sad and you know what she said to me? "Mom, Little Blessings is a baby school anyway!" Well, she told me! She's ready to move on so I better move on too!

I'm proud of my babies who really aren't babies anymore but will always be my babies. So there!!!

Here are some pictures of the past few days. Nicholas and all the kindergarten classes at Flag Day. Good luck finding Nicholas. He's squished in the middle row somewhere getting poked in the eyes by those ridiculous hats...

Nicholas' Field Day. They had face painting done. Julia chose a cat, Nicholas a shark and Gianna a snake for her face. Yes, a snake...

Here are some pictures of Julia's sweet kindergarten graduation...
